For end users, SensibleTV is the ultimate experience

SensibleTV understands people the way they speak and delivers TV programs, VOD contents and all kinds of services aggregated into a single interface. It is faster, friendlier, context aware and enriched with more data (sports, people, science...). It does not require an "always-listening" device and guarantees GDPR-compliant data security.

For services and devices providers, SensibleTV is the ultimate revenue maker

SensibleTV protects your entire value chain, from user and content data to integration and operational management. Contrary to classic vocal assistant systems, SensibleTV is fully customizable in UI and functionalities, runs entirely on your networks and connects contents and services with context. Included: the first AI-based recommendation system that actually matches people's preferences, for even more revenues.

 Changing the game

Based on LEXISTEMS' Sensible.ai® technology, SensibleTV processes user queries by meaning instead of plain keywords. In different languages. Without wake words or complex formulations. In front of the TV, that translates into rich results and full customer satisfaction.

Internally, SensibleTV is powered by state-of-the-art Natural Language, Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing algorithms in orchestrable containers. It uses open data standards, implements multi-level security and scales to millions of users.

How it works
LEXISTEMS SensibleTV: How it works
SensibleTV with or without vocal assistant systems

SensibleTV can work together with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and other systems. It can also be integrated directly into hardware devices, software applications and online services as a standalone solution - for maximum customer ROI.

In the standalone scenario, SensibleTV adds significant benefits:

  • Easier service monetization
  • No capture of any user or contents data
  • Runs 100% on private servers or operators networks for full operational management
  • Connects directly with data and other components within target products
  • No wake words or interference with other vocal systems
  • More languages supported
  • 100% customizable in the applicative, contents, graphical and security dimensions.
Ask yourself the right questions...

Data and user experience is where the value is. When choosing between using SensibleTV on top of a vocal assistant system or as a standalone solution, here are the questions you should ask yourself:

  • Can I guarantee my end users' experience and privacy?
  • Do I keep sole control of the data or am I obligated to share it with other tiers?
  • Do I keep sole control of the operations? Do I have to rely on foreign clouds and regulations?
  • Is the chosen solution a differentiator on my markets?
  • Can I customize the solution to better monetize my other assets (VOD catalogs and other services)?
SensibleTV's AI-based recommendations

"Another user saw the same movie as you and after that they watched/bought this so that's our suggestion". Have you ever been satisfied with the recommendations you usually get from TV or VOD services (or even the most famous marketplaces)?

Instead of just crossing lists, SensibleTV's innovative AI algorithms system weigh and combine fine-grained users viewing preferences and deep contents features with extensive community data to propose recommendations that just deliver on the promise.

That's a winner for everyone: users can consume contents *and* services they will like. Providers get ROI on the entire surface of their catalogs, with the ability to push or promote parts of it as ley like at any time.

Why SensibleTV's recommendations just make sense...

Extensive community data - SensibleTV comes loaded with tens of thousands of reviews and normalized ratings from a wide variety of local and international sources. These can be aggregated to yours (with adjustable weights) to form a rich database of information available to the recommendation system for first-level ranking or to the end user when they browse listings by themselves.

Deep analysis of programs and services features - SensibleTV works at the deepest level to correlate contents and services characteristics to individual users' tastes. These 'characteristics' go way beyond public metadata and include a wealth of LEXISTEMS proprietary data.

Fine-grained users habits and preferences - That's SensibleTV's recommender most important factor. Users habits, preferences and consumption history profiles build up day after day (in full anonymity and strict accordance with privacy regulations) to allow the system to target results for individual users and provide recommendations that transform into action.

Contextual and global - SensibleTV's recommendations can follow a precise question ("I want to watch a recent cop show with New-York City action"), or a more general query ("List good actions movies this weekend"), or just derive from a request for suggestions ("What do you recommend for kids under 10 who like dogs"). In every case, the balance between context-related and context-independent recommendations is adjustable, the latter allowing for new contents and services discovery (aka "nice surprise").

Fully customizable results - In addition to being good, SensibleTV's recommendations are also fully customizable, at any time, temporarily or permanently. On the service side - in order to promote contents, run specials, etc. And on the users side - to let them adjust results to their preferences based on types of programs, hours of the day, cast, topics, ratings and ratings origin, hours... (no limit here).

Skills compatible - SensibleTV's recommender is also designed to weigh in features extracted from relevant skills (either from third-party systems or from LEXISTEMS' forthcoming SensibleSkills® platform).

SensibleTV's benefits
For end users

SensibleTV is the end user's ultimate TV/VOD experience for many reasons. It is fast and reliable. It combines better language understanding (remember, meaning vs keywords), complete context awareness and multi-language support on the same device. It is friendlier and more intuitive than solutions requiring wake words and formulations. Last but not least, it is the *only* solution that guarantees total, absolute privacy.

Unlike other solutions, SensibleTV...
  • Answers real-life questions
like "Show me Big Bang Theory episodes after S09E04", "Any live Gunners games next week", "Find family movies with dogs on afternoons this week-end", "Play a Han Solo flick" or "Record all Coltrane or free jazz concerts prior to the 60's"... without wake words or constrained formulations*.
Because meaning trumps keywords, SensibleTV understands questions asked the way we speak. You can also search for very precise programs like in "What's the best action movie with Jason Staham or Bruce Willis but not Sylvester Stallone on pay channels on evenings next week after 10pm my time?", or "List all Disney cartoons of less than 20 minutes tomorrow morning between 7 and 8"...
    * unless SensibleTV is used as an Amazon Alexa skill or a Google action in which case wake words may be required by these systems.
  • Aggregates all services and content in one place
because users no one cares whether the movie or game they want to watch right away comes from this or that provider. People just want a single interface to access everything, in the most simple, intuitive way possible. Rightfully so, in our opinion.
  • Understands context
and reacts to reformulations or just a change of mind. Just the way users expect it to in the real life. Like for instance in "Find me a Brad Pitt action movie on Netflix" then "Mmmm... and romantic comedies but without Angelina Joile?" then "and on Hulu, but only in HD?"...
  • Doesn't require always-listening devices
and protects users privacy from data-hungry companies. Depending on how SensibleTV is integrated, users just press a button on the remote when they want to be heard. That's all - and that changes everything.
Users mind being always listened on. They mind their choices being pried on. They mind the possibility of their conversations being remotely recorded, their intimacy being stored somewhere permanently and, worst of all, their devices being hacked. With SensibleTV, that cannot happen.
  • Offers better choices
thanks of its many reviews and ratings coming from multiple sources (Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, New-York Times... as well as local media all over the world). These reviews also help SensibleTV decide what to propose when you ask for the "best" movie, documentary, concert, etc.
  • Enriches viewing with data
from football or other sports databases to general info about movies, shows, artists, history, geography (any topic actually), including while the program is playing. Want to know more about this young actress, historic figure, new midfielder, country or dinosaur? Just ask SensibleTV...
  • Supports multiple languages on the same device
both for questions and programs from any number of contents catalogs of various origins - that's one more benefit of meaning vs keywords.
Other systems are generally limited to one language per device and they have a hard time finding relevant results when channels are in different languages or contents catalogs are of foreign origin. Too bad because we all have these nowadays.
  • Returns results that match users' viewing preferences
as soon as they tell SensibleTV to skip these people, genres, origins, etc., or to learn from viewing habits. BTW, privacy-wise, these preferences data remain on the device.
You never watch TV before 9pm and your kids leave for school at 8am? You don't like some sports or actors or topics? SensibleTV lets you specify such preferences easily, and will also learn from your habits if you ask it to. So when you ask something, you're sure to get results you'll like.
  • Features the best recommendation system ever
because its artificial intelligence combines community data, user viewing preferences and extensive analysis of programs features (including LEXISTEMS proprietary metadata). Don't take the other systems' poor, dumb or remotely related recommendations for granted. Read more...
For operators / service providers

Intelligent vocal access to contents and services plus total data privacy remains the #1 demand from end users. SensibleTV is the only one to deliver.

With SensibleTV, adding the most advanced language interface to your products and services is a no-brainer. It's easy, it's fast, it brings in lots of added-value features. And it guarantees complete control of your business assets, roadmap and revenues.

Unlike other solutions, SensibleTV...
  • Does not capture user and service data
which is where the value is. In addition to legitimate privacy concerns, this data is the best way for you to increase margins and build killer products. Factor in SensibleTV's AI-based user preferences profiling and recommendation system... and you get a truly unique revenue maker.
In contrast with other vendors, LEXISTEMS will contractually agree not to have access to any of your users and services data in any way except for service enhancements upon your request. Since exploiting user data is not our business, we're open to any further provisions that may be of concern to your organization.
  • Is the perfect contents aggregator
allowing you to offer a single access to all your menetizable contents and services through a unique and spectacularly efficient vocal interface. Conversion-wise, that's a crucial benefit.
  • Is fully customizable
in the functional, UI and UX dimensions. SensibleTV's granular plug-in pipeline fits naturally into your software stack and connects your contents and services via a unified vocal interface. Since everything can be adapted to your requirements, and taking into account that LEXISTEMS' engineers are here to help, the possibilities are endless. So the more monetizable resources you have, the bigger the ROI.
  • Runs 100% on your infrastructure
or on any other if you so desire. Two big benefits here. You keep control of the administration and monitoring, which is never the case with third-party operated vocal assistant systems. And you leverage you existing network resources and scalability for even better ROI.
The hardware and network requirements (CPU, storage, bandwidth...) for running a SensibleTV application exposed to x million users vary according to functional specificities. We have actionable metrics that specify precisely the right configs for scaling and elasticity. Contact us to know more.
  • Supports more languages
which helps you monetize your services in more local markets, with the added benefits of local customers appreciation and market advantage over competitors who chose to cautiously stick with basic solutions. You don't have to embrace an USA-centric vision anymore!
  • Complies with GDPR and other regulations
today and tomorrow. As consumer data abuses multiply all over the world, so will such regulations and liabilities. With SensibleTV, users data does not leave the perimeter of your services, so your responsibility is as well protected as your ROI.
  • Includes additional data, contents and services
based on LEXISTEMS' extensive Media & Entertainment databases as well as partnerships with international contents and data providers (some commercial, some open source). Up to you to take advantage of them.
It is also up to you to decide whether such partnership agreements should involve LEXISTEMS or if you prefer dealing directly with the providers. LEXISTEMS' mission here is to facilitate business, not direct or regulate it.
  • Upgrades transparently
to you and your end users. Our common business is to have customers enjoy the best possible TV / VOD experience. As soon as SensibleTV gets new features, these become immediately and automatically available, free of charge.
  • Minimizes time to market
because it only requires a single integration effort regardless of your services lineup and target countries. That's because SensibleTV is multilingual* by design and fits naturally into any software / ops stack via standard connectors.
A lot of local languages won't be available in many GAFAM-originated systems before years (provided they will be one day). The business opportunity on these local markets becomes hotter every day.
    * restrictions temporarily apply for cyrillic, indian and asian languages.
  • Protects your source code
as in "all frontend and integration code (backend API calls, middleware integration, UI design and data delivery) remains your sole property with the licence of your choice and no fees due." Even if you borrow extensively from LEXISTEMS' code repositories. Even if all the code is co-designed with LEXISTEMS' engineers.

These benefits make adding SensibleTV to your services both time- and cost-effective. For a detailed outline of a typical SensibleTV implementation project, check out the integration section below.

For Telecom operators, additional benefits derive from having SensibleTV on their STBs.

For TV / STBs OEMs

In today's digital world, regardless of the quality of your electronics, the added-value tends to shift towards software and data. As end users take hardware for granted, software becomes the market differentiator while customer data is a prerequisite for competitive survival.

In this regard, SensibleTV is a critical asset for margin protection, whereas simple vocal assistant adoption gradually minimizes differences between hardware vendors. Designed to be integrated into existing devices, SensibleTV is already available in a number of products targeting different local markets.

Unlike other solutions, SensibleTV...
  • Adds world-class smarts
to any TV or STB thanks to the most advanced language interface for the unified delivery of TV, VOD and additional services from any providers.
  • Has no special requirements
besides a microphone being available somewhere, typically on the remote. That means whatever the device OS, middlewares and UI, SensibleTV is ready to be fitted in. No additional software or hardware necessary.
  • Adapts to any existing software stack
including ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) systems, custom UI design, monitoring or PPV features, etc. If some of these exist in the device, SensibleTV connects to them naturally without disruption or hijacking. If they don't, SensibleTV brings in a set of alternatives for you to choose from.
  • Adapts to any integration strategies
and lets you decide whether you want the system to be working in full API mode (with the backend and data sides being hosted wherever you want), or parts of it embedded within the devices.
SensibleTV's components work together as a pipeline and can therefore be adapted individually - at project start time or after an initial deployment where full API would gradually evolve into partly or totally device-embedded.
  • Includes additional data, contents and services
based on LEXISTEMS' extensive Media & Entertainment databases as well as partnerships with international contents and data providers (some commercial, some open source). Up to you to take advantage of them.

SensibleTV integration
to applications, devices and infrastructures

SensibleTV is probably the easiest solution you'll ever have to integrate into your product(s) and/or network(s).

Typically, a SensibleTV integration + deployment project is completed, tested and qualified in a matter of weeks, the overall idea being flexibility + productivity.

There's no technical prerequisites since SensibleTV works primarily as an API. You just need to forward users' queries to the backend part of SensibleTV (there's a simple format for that) in order to receive UI-ready data. This is done in a few lines of code from any user interface: yours, SensibleTV's or any combination thereof. And if you're ready for device embedding, we are too!

See how simple it is...
  • Host it anywhere
including your own infrastructure for cost optimization, easier management and total data privacy. We have actionable metrics that specify precisely the right configs for scaling and elasticity. Contact us to know more.
  • Embedding available
for parts of SensibleTV's pipeline, which allows you to secure custom developments within devices and optimize local processings. That's one of the advantages of SensibleTV's plug-in design - as opposed to the monolithic architecture of classic vocal assistant systems. Long story short: if you can imagine it, SensibleTV makes it possible - all the way from hardware/architecture/NPU qualification to prototype delivery.
  • Universal compatibility
with any software stack, either backend or frontend. Whatever the ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition), whatever your devices' middlewares, whatever the data processing and aggregation. And, contrary to other systems, you can also choose to use only parts of SensibleTV's pipeline. Your business, your choice.
  • Easy data ingestion
for EPG listings and contents / services catalogs, whatever their format, structure and language. SensibleTV includes universal mappings that unify data, regardless of their origin, into a consistent set eligible to unified processing, restitution and consumption. Common differences in country/culture-specific classifications are resolved technically but preserved in the user interface.
  • Open data standards
like JSON-LD, RDF, OWL(-DL), SPARQL, Turtle and more, on universal, language- and country-agnostic schema.org-derived ontologies. So no proprietary formats, no breaking changes and total exchangeability / reusability of all data-driven development efforts.
  • An exhaustive, versioned online documentation (LEXISTEMS customer ID required)
that takes engineers from SensibleTV discovery to in-depth programming and includes immediately working copy-paste code examples.
SensibleTV also includes a light javascript object named "STV_Data" for easy data consumption and restitution in UI. As an example, getting a list of all actors in a movie is as simple as calling STV_DATA.workPersons_actors(). The list is dot-ended, comma-separated and actors names can also include character names. STV_DATA functions accept parameters for formatting return values, guarantee formally valid results and most among the 100+ of them can also return granular raw values from the SensibleTV backend API results payload for custome processing. As a no-dpendencies IIFE, STV_DATA just needs be called in the UI stack for all of its functions to be available frontend-wise.
